“The Hilux is in great used shape - especially for an Aussie truck. It has normal dings and scratches on the original paint and one dent in the back corner near the parking lights. The clear coat on the roof and hood are fading but the truck still presents well. Interior is in very good shape with no rips in the SR5 fabric and some minor wear on the plastic dash bezel. The dash pad has some cracks from the Aussie sun but comes with a dash cover. Clutch, brakes, tires are all in good shape. The original 3L Diesel engine has plenty of life in it with approx. 230k miles on it. It always starts quickly and with no smoke. On freezing days, I glow it for 8 seconds and it comes to life. Warm days do not need a glow. I've only used synthetics in the engine, diffs and transfer case. The coolant has been converted to waterless to help mitigate any steam pockets. Overall, this is an honest Aussie truck that's ready for years of duty and fun. Perfect for overloading, camping or even daily driving.”
This Hilux is actually from the outback and it's ready for camping, bugging out or just daily driving. personally imported it from Australia (RHD) here to Georgia and it has clean title. I'm the only US owner. It starts, runs and drives great with no issues and it needs nothing to be daily or fun weekend ute. It was outfitted for outback camping to which I'll go over all the details. The owner in Western Australia originally used it to take in the bush and camp out for extended trips. - 2.8 3L Diesel engine. Timing belt recently done. Compression is good and starts easily in cold weather without glowing. It leaks some oil and burns some, but that's to be expected.- Consistently gets 25mpgs- COLD AC and heater works great- Garaged always- New manual glow plug momentary button/relay setup with new plugs- New starter- 5-speed - Solid front axle - LSD rear axle- No rust on frame - Two small rust spots on cab (taken care of)- Old Man Emu suspension and shocks giving it 3" lift- Converted to Evans waterless coolant to mitigate any head issues- Dual 12V batteries (2nd battery mounted to frame rail) and isolation switch- Safari snorkel- Dual jerry cans on swing out rear bumper. Homegrown set up from Aussie owner and very cool design- Line-X in bed and on Roo bar- Custom seat covers over perfect seats - Tilt steering - Power steering- Nice sounding stereo and speakers with Aux jack- Vent wings and manual windows (remember those?)- Very nice upgraded SR5 fabric interior with carpeted floor- Dual rear Power outlets facing back seat- LED lighting in cab- Lightweight aluminum Roo Bar- Aussie rear step bumper with Auxillary lights- Tow hitch- Original paintwork and graphics- Roof rack and back rack- Vintage chrome SR5 wheels with hard to find hub covers- Skinny BFG all terrain 33" tires with 70% left (hard to find)- Various spares included; timing belt, water pump and filters My driving style:I warm it up for 45 seconds before slowly take off. I have always accelerated slowly (it's not fast anyhow) and I never get the tach over 3k. My braking entails planning for stop wife gets on to me that drive like an old man, but my vehicles last long time and are not abused. So, I'm good with that. The bad:- Softball sized dent in right-rear of cab light. never attempted to fix it with fiberglass, etc. as it never bothered me and isn??t too apparent.- A-pillar had dime sized rust hole near the vent window. Killed the rust and treated with POR.- The usually small scrapes and bumps from regular use in Australia.- Gas gauge is inaccurate after first 100km it starts to drop rapidly, but the gas light works fine and usually fill up around 500km anyhow. Basically, it's probably getting hung up in the tank. - leaves are in the fan and it makes noise at high-speed. I'll try and clean that out before the sale.
So, to sum it up this is rare purpose-build solid-axle Hilux that's ready for duty. You won't be let down in this rig and you'll likely not see another one in this shape or spec. Most that you see are from Japan and have lower miles, but questionable maintenance. The only reason am selling is need my garage space back, I've had my fun with it and I'm looking to pass it along.
